Scholarships

Each year CalaverasGROWN awards two $500 scholarships to High School seniors in the county.  Applicants must write an essay.

2022 Application Essay Topic

Water is the foundation of Life and all human activity.  Water is also the dominant component of Earth's cooling system.  Most of the water on land is stored in the soil.  Name and describe 2-3 techniques for storing more water in the soil.

2021 Application Essay Topic

"2020 has brought unprecedented challenges to communities around the world.  Our rural economy in Calaveras County has been hard hit by the socio-economic crisis that the response to COVID-19 has created.  In 500 words or less, describe what individuals can do to support and enhance our regional economy as we move forward into 2021 and beyond.."

"How could we employ young people in Calaveras County to improve the health and fire resiliency of our eco-system and watershed?  Be sure to focus your answer on how your solution would employ local people ages 16 to 40."
